CAPTAIN Mikko Väisänen & CHEF Titta Uoti

Titta and Mikko have been working together on yachts since they met in Finland in 1999. Their love of adventure has taken them around the world from the Baltic to the Mediterranean and finally the Caribbean.


Captain Mikko spent five years studying to be a Master Mariner. Between his studies he worked on large cargo vessels and before coming to the Caribbean, he worked on a 300 ft SuperSeaCat ferry in the Baltic Sea. Mikko has been sailing since he was six years old and competed in dinghy racing before moving to keel boats. His sailing experience has encompassed racing yachts, charter boats as well as a traditional 130 ft topsail schooner in all ratings from deckhand to skipper.

In Finland, Mikko and Titta ran a very successful charter business running their 50 ft yacht from Helsinki to the Finnish Archipelago and were involved in luxury corporate charters and offshore racing. Due to the short sailing season in Finland, they moved to the British Virgin Islands and have worked for two and a half very successful season for The Moorings.

Chef Titta is also Finnish and studied in Haaga Culinary Institute in Helsinki. This top rated school gave her a Bachelors Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. She has worked as Food and Beverage Manager in the famous Scandinavian restaurant Strindberg in Helsinki. In all, Titta worked for ten years in the hospitality business working her way up from waitress to manager. Her cuisine, which features fresh seafood and luscious desserts, is strongly influenced by Scandinavian, Italian, Asian and Caribbean flavours. She is a keen and experienced sailor and holds an international PADI Open Water Certification.
